Booster Club
Cross Country Team  Vanguard High School

Like many high school sports, Cross Country operates under a very limited budget. Hence, the Booster Club was formed to help with the expenses incurred in taking the teams to meets within and outside the State of Florida. Without this assistance,  the team could not have gone on  these trips.

Additionally, due to the hard work of the Booster Club, they have assisted in the transportation cost of sending the teams to Cross Country camp in North Carolina every summer for the last five years. Funds are obtained thru donations and several car washes.  These  car wash  serve an additional benefit:  the team working together to raise this money, gives them a feeling of ownership and camaraderie.

The Booster Club also puts on the only "cross country" 5K in the county every year in February at the Silver River State Park. The feedback on this race has been tremendous from the running community due to its true "cross country" feel and it gets larger every year.

The board usually meets once at the beginning of the season at the first spaghetti dinner to go over the "To Do" list for the season and get sign-ups for future spaghetti dinners, casserole dinners for Coach T and family after every meet, planning on the banquet held in January, and, most importantly, discuss sponsorships and race planning for our February 5K. We meet again at the banquet to discuss elections for the board for the following year and things remaining undone for the race. The board consists of a President, VP, Treasurer and Secretary, who serve for a year.

Elections are held at the first meeting in September. Presently the board members are Troy Kuphal, Kim Dunn, Sally Kelly and Missy Dunse. Mrs. Dunse phone number is 427-9231 and if anyone needs something before the September meeting they are more than welcome to call her.

The Booster Club is open to everyone who wants to help the Vanguard Cross Country team by contacting any member of the board.
